Just over 5 years ago, I received a phone call that would forever change my life.
"It is cancer..." is what I last remember hearing that day - right before the wind was taken from me. It was as if someone had punched me square in the sternum and I couldn't breathe. The physician had read my biopsy results and had the unfortunate task of having to tell me that I had cancer. Breast Cancer, actually.
It took nearly a year of my life to fight it and many years after to get back to feeling like "me" again.
I was fortunate.
Many are not as fortunate and cancer truly affects most everyone in some way.
This is why I love organizations like the American Cancer Society.
It is also why I am very excited to announce that I will be one of two speakers at the Real Men Wear Pink kick off event coming up on September 13 at AT&T Stadium (Home of the Dallas Cowboys) in Arlington, Texas.
